William Archila was born in El Salvador, in 1968, and migrated to the U.S. with his family to escape the civil war. His first poetry collection, The Art of Exile (Bilingual Press, 2009), reflecting on that experience, won the Emerging Writer Fellowship Award from the Writer's Center. His work has appeared in numerous journals.
